Gerald Morin

Gerald “Jerry” Morin, 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in Arlington Heights, with his family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1935 in Chicago to Claude and Millie (Krueger) Morin. Jerry was the beloved husband of Rosemary Spielberger for 28 years. The couple were high school sweethearts, who met while attending Steinmetz College Prep in Chicago. The two were married in 1958 at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple raised three children; Christi, Renee, and Gerry Jr. As a family, the Morin’s enjoyed traveling the United States; skiing in Colorado, camping, taking impromptu road trips, and exploring the Western United States. Jerry taught his children to sail on his boat on Beck Lake. He was an Electrician for Local 134 for 45 years. Jerry semi-retired at age 50 to care for Rosemary when she got sick, and fully retired at age 62. After his wife’s passing in 1986, Jerry moved to Homosassa, FL, where he continued boating, and enjoyed playing golf. He always made time to visit his family during the holidays, including his grandchildren, with which he shared a special relationship. Jerry was a football fan, and loved the Chicago Bears. He and Rosemary were season ticket holders for several years. However, as he moved to Florida, he transitioned to rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Lighting. He was also a connoisseur of ice cream, especially chocolate, and hot dogs, and always made it a point to take his grandchildren on ice cream outings. He was a big fan of Portillo’s. Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor. He was always making jokes and never took anything seriously. Jerry is survived by his children, Christi (Vince) Warchol, Renee (Djamal) Larbi, and Gerry (Laura) Morin; grandchildren, Sean Martin, Justin (Heather) Martin, Amber Larbi, Sabrina Larbi, Brittany Gaeth, and Claudia (Joshua) Tomporowski; great-grandson, Jackson Martin; and his beloved friend for 23 years, Barbara Soldenwagner.
