Frederic J. Isling

Frederic J. Isling was born in Chicago, IL on April 8, 1929, and passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on February 17, 2025. He is survived by his loving children - Marvin, Donna (James) and Deborah (John), as well as seven much-loved grandchildren - Carter, James, Leah, Bryce, Ava-Rayne, Anabella and Sophia. Frederic was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice, as well as his parents, Johann (John) and Leopoldine Isling. Frederic and his parents spent his early years living in Chicago, after which his family settled in Wheaton, IL to enjoy life in the suburbs. Upon Frederic’s graduation from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL, he continued his education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering leading to a 40+ year career in the energy industry - first at Procon, Inc. and then UOP (Universal Oil Products). In 1970, Frederic and Bernice married and began their life together. As their family grew, Frederic and his family moved to Des Plaines, IL where he and his family enjoyed life in a wonderful community filled with amazing friends and neighbors. Over the years, Frederic enjoyed planning many summer road trips for his family (always ensuring a summer vacation was on the books), exploring his hobbies of planes, trains and automobiles, taking on countless home improvement projects, and being a member of the St. Emily Catholic Church community. In addition to his career and family life, Frederic enjoyed exploring the world with family and friends via many domestic and international travels throughout his life. Highlights of his travels included memorable trips to Austria to visit with his much-cherished family members that continue to reside in Austria to this day. Upon retiring in 1993, Frederic enjoyed many years with his family and grandchildren, and most recently enjoyed two wonderful years living with his daughter Deborah and her family in South Bend, IN. Bailey, the family dog, quickly became Frederic’s best friend and constant companion which was a lovely bond for all to witness. Frederic was a wonderful source of peace, calm and comfort for all of his family and friends throughout his well-lived life. Always the first to offer a friendly smile, his love and care for his family and friends will undoubtedly remain an example to be paid forward by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10:00am-11:00am at St. Emily Church, 1400 E Central Rd, Mt Prospect, IL, followed immediately by a funeral mass at 11:00am. Interment will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities, the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association and/or your local Habitat for Humanity.
