Vicki R. Tchon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Vicki R. Tchon DES PLAINES - Vicki R. Tchon (nee Thomasson), 76, slipped away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born in Fargo, ND, on Oct. 9, 1939, the only child of Beatrice (Anderson) and Kenneth Thomasson. Vicki grew up in Chicago, and spent many summer vacations planting trees in Michigan, with friends. As an adult, some of her jobs were at Ducks Unlimited and SBS Worldwide, she made lifelong friends at both places. Her love of the outdoors meant she could often be found at the cabin in Lake Tomahawk, WI. She loved music, babies, puppies, crossword puzzles, a good casino, and Elvis. But most of all, she loved her children. Vicki was strong, intelligent, and creative. Few knew she was a professionally-trained seamstress and she shared her passion for sewing with her daughter, Tammy. Vicki was a lover of all animals, especially dogs, and it seems she and her son, Brian, were always rescuing a lost or stray animal on the street. Vicki is survived by her children, Tammy (Tom) Rice of Crystal Lake and Brian of Des Plaines; her two dogs, Cody and Riley; and many family and friends. She was loved by so many and is greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Kenneth Thomasson; and her husband of 27 years, Chester Tchon. Visitation Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. Funeral service Friday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
