Richard H. Szparkowski

Richard H. Szparkowski, 84, was born July 31, 1931, in Chicago, and passed away Dec. 18, 2015, in Arlington Heights. Beloved husband of Barbara A. (nee Siuda); loving father of Barb (Gordon) Jesme and Rick (Jenny) Szparkowski; dear grandfather of Trevor, Nevaeh and Natalie; fond brother of Conrad (Connie), Norbert, Virginia (Jack) Brady and the late Frances Szparkowski; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 36. Retired since 1993, he was a teacher and administrator for the Chicago Board of Education and substitute teacher for District 62, River Trails School District and St. Emily School. He also was an usher at St. Emily Church. Visitation Tuesday, Dec. 22, 3 to 9 p.m. at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. Prayers Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, proceeding to St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect, for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society appreciated.
