Mary Jo Adams
August 14, 1937 - June 7, 2022
After a long battle with a terrible disease, beloved wife and mother Mary Jo (McGinley) Adams finally succumbed to complications of COPD on June 7, at the age of 84. She will be terribly missed by her husband Jack after nearly 64 years of marriage. They first met in high school, and have been the model of a loving, life-long partnership ever since. She was a fantastic mother and grandmother, motivating all of us to work hard and succeed. She leaves us wishing for one more day: Erin (Kevin) Conrad; JD (Judy); Vince (Cyndi); Bryan (Michele); and Denis (Sue). She loved all of her grandchildren wholeheartedly: Greg, Andy, Chris, Erik, Noah, Connell, Isabelle, Connor, Colin, Jack, Liam, and Tommy. The great grandchildren, even those she had not yet met, delighted her: Graham, Miles, James and Marcus, and Noah’s soon-to-be-born child. Her beloved sister, Terry (Ed) Walsh and brother Jimmi McGinley are heartbroken. We were very proud of her for getting her CPA at the age of 52, passing the test the first time while working a full-time job. If there was anyone in our family made to be a CPA, it was Mary Jo. She was highly intelligent, a proud graduate of DePaul University (class of ’65) and St. Michael’s Central High School (class of ’55), a passionate advocate of women’s rights, an avid reader and bridge player. She loved travel, especially cruising. She was also admittedly tone deaf and didn’t get the puns. She will be remembered fondly by friends from Park Ridge, Mt. Prospect, Lake Placid, FL, and Lake Jacqueline, WI. No funeral service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association and JourneyCare hospice.
