Dennis Shim Ki Ho, age 93 died on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at Harmony Healthcare Community, a nursing home in Chicago. He passed in his sleep from natural causes. He was born in Guangzhou (formerly Canton) China on November 6, 1926 to Kee-Sheng and Pok Chun (Loo) Ho and was the second of three children. As A young boy he enjoyed playing soccer during his teen and young adult years. His life was interrupted by the World War II when Japan invaded and occupied south China and Hong Kong. Following the war, he settled in Hong Kong where he met Frances Tip Yuen Shum. They married and had 3 children. With the sponsorship of his brother Raymond, he and his family emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Chicago on May 20, 1967. He and Frances started their new life and assimilated into the Belmont-Cragin area. He worked until his retirement with Magnecraft Electric in the accounting department. Co-workers and managers refer to him as "Quiet, Well Liked, Hardworking, a Small Man in Stature, a Giant in his Position". He was married to Frances for 47 years prior to her death in 1995. He survived by his beloved daughters, Beatrice (John) and Josephine, son Peter (Lois), granddaughter Teresa, grandsons Alexander, Matthew and Jared.
