Anne Sittig Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Anne Sittig, nee Horn, 90, of Arlington Heights, IL passed away on December 22. Beloved wife of the late Herbert and the late Donald Rohrbach; loving mother of Anne (Kenneth) Voss, Raymond (Judith) Sittig, Jeffrey (Ann) Sittig, Carol (Bruce) Barnett and Liza Sittig; daughter of the late Joseph and the late Magdalena (nee Woll) Horn; proud grandmother of Bethany, Andrew, Karen, Michael, Katherine and Margret; dear sister of Laura (William)Mahrenholz, Maria Horn, late Barbara (Ludwig) Lehne, Sr. M. Estrid Horn and Magdalena (the late Johann) Maier; aunt to three nieces and three nephews; step-mother of Carolyn Dragon, Luanne Rohrbach, Sue Rusch and William Rohrbach; step grandmother of eight. Anne was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States via France after World War II. While working, learning the English language and studying to become a proud American citizen, she met her first husband, Herbert at a local dance in Chicago. Anne and Herbert were happily married for many years until Herbert's passing in 1981. Subsequently, Anne met her second husband Donald and enjoyed many more happy years of marriage until Donald's passing in 2011. Anne was a gracious and kind individual, always putting others before herself. She was a 68 year member of the Catholic Kolping Society of Chicago and a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Wheeling. Anne had a flair for knitting and crocheting and also spent many hours crafting blankets out of plarn to donate to the homeless. Anne had a quick wit, enjoyed playing many different card games and was also a seasoned cruiser. Visitation for Anne will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017, 3-8:30 P.M. at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd. Mt. Prospect. She will lie in state Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd. Prospect Hts., IL.
