Alan R. Schmid age 97, U.S. Navy Veteran. Beloved husband of Anne Marie nee: Ackerman. Loving father of Thomas (Roberta), James (Cathleen) and Robert (Amy) Schmid, Katherine (Trent) Taylor, Eileen (David) Goacher and Mary Beth (Loyd) Smith. Cherished grandfather of John (Amy), Andrew (Ali), Steven (Eileen), Peter, C.J. (Keeley), Matthew (Colleen), Aaron (Cassandra) and Luke (Ashley) Schmid, Abigail (Chris) Barker, Joe Schmid, Bryan, Kevin and Michael Taylor, Adriane and Brandon Goacher, Jack (Tara) and Ted (Annie) Smith. Great grandfather of 12, dear brother of the late Conrad (Georgia) and the late Terry (Judy) Schmid. Fond uncle of many. Allan served as Blood Bank Specialist with Aurora Area Blood Bank and St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan. He was a very patriotic man, a devoted Catholic, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Family and Friends will gather Friday, December 17, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (formerly St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church) 601 Biesterfield Rd. Elk Grove Village, IL. 60007 from 10:00 am until time of Mass 11:00 am. Interment Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville.
