Mary Jo Johnson

Mary Jo Johnson, of Prospect Heights, Il, formerly of Delaware, OH, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on September 15, 1957, in Chicago, IL to Pat and Joan Napoleon. Mary Jo was a cherished wife, devoted mother, loving daughter, and kind friend. She was active with her church, St. Mary’s in Delaware, and loved spending time reading with her book club. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, and travelling the world. As a wife, Mary Jo was the heart of her family, providing unwavering support and unconditional love to her husband Robert (Bob) Johnson. The couple had four children together and were married for 45 years until the passing of Bob in 2022. Together, they shared countless memories and built a life based on mutual respect and devotion. As a mother, Mary Jo's nurturing spirit knew no bounds. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her children Scott (Beth), Jennifer (Mark), Eric (Marissa), and Leslie (Zach) Allen. She always instilled in them the values of kindness, empathy, and perseverance. She adored her grandchildren, Madeline, Gabriella, Lucas, and Emilia. Additionally she cherished her time spent with her sisters Donna (Ken), Patti (Neil), Nancy(Bob), Tracy(Phillip) and brother Michael(Melanie). Mary Jo's warm and compassionate nature extended beyond her family, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Later in life, she met her companion, Jim, and together they enjoyed travelling and tutoring children. Her genuine kindness and zest for life touched many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. In addition to her roles as a wife, mother, and friend, Mary Jo worked for the Delaware County Bank and Trust for 25 years as well as an Independent Care Provider for Delaware County Board of Disabilities. Her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 411 N Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, Il at 11a.m. Visitation will be held from 10a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be held at a later date.
