Man Sung Kim Joseph

고 김만성 요셉 형제님께서는1937년 9월 3일 대구에서 김연수씨와 배말쇠씨 슬하의 6남매중 차남으로 출생하셨습니다. 청구대학에서 법학을 전공하셨고, 1965년 김정자여사와 결혼하여 슬하에 2남 1녀를 두셨습니다. 한국에서 회사생활과 사업체를 운영하시다가 1983년 미국으로 이민을 오신후 Raytheon에 입사하여 장기근무 후 은퇴하셨습니다. 은퇴후 가족과 같이 세탁소를 운영하셨습니다. 저희본당 창립멤버로 오래동안 신앙생활을 하셨으며 구역장으로도 봉사하셨고 은퇴후에도 미사안내 등 많은봉사를 하셨습니다. 손자, 손녀들과 시간보내는 것을 좋아하셨고 매여름마다 식구들과 낚시여행을 다니시며 항상 웃는 얼굴로 가족들에게 화 한번 안내시며 평생을 살아오셨습니다. 지난 수년간 대장암, 뇌암으로 투병하셨지만 잘 견뎌 내셨고 최근 설암으로 고생하시다가 2024년 6월 14일(금) 새벽에 86세 일기로 선종하셨습니다. Man Sung Joseph Kim was born in Daegu, South Korea, on September 3, 1937. He was the second son of six children born to Kim Yeon-soo and Bae Mal-soe. He majored in law at Cheonggu University. In 1965 he married Jung Ja Kim and had two sons and one daughter. While in Korea, he worked for a company and ran a business. After immigrating to the United States in 1983, he joined Raytheon and retired after a long career. After his retirement, he and his family opened and ran two dry cleaning businesses. Man Sung Joseph Kim was a founding parishioner of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Des Plaines, IL, and lived a religious life. He also served as a district leader and even after his retirement, he continued to provide many services to his parish. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and went on fishing trips with them almost every summer. He lived his entire life with a happy and friendly smile on his face. Over the past few years, he suffered from colon cancer and brain cancer, but endured it well. Recently, after suffering from oral cancer, he passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, June 14, 2024. His legacy of dedication and love will forever be cherished by his family and friends. Funeral Mass and Farewell Liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St Paul Chong Han Sang Catholic Mission Church; 675 Dursey Lane, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Burial is to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery; 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
