Kathleen M. Radcliffe

In Loving Memory of Kathleen Marie Radcliffe On the evening of December 1st, 2022, Kathleen passed away peacefully in her home. She was 83 years old. Kathleen grew up in Chicago surrounded by loving parents, and many wickedly funny and caring aunts and uncles. She loved outings with her father, Guy. He would take her everywhere, and like every good father, showed her the world. Kathleen also loved spending time in the kitchen with her mother, Etta, learning the art of cooking and baking (lucky us!). It was a house full of love, music, and laughter. Her parents remained close and supportive and part of Kathleen's life until their own passing. Kathleen took the name "Marie" at her confirmation, in tribute to her favorite aunt and to the Virgin Mary. She remained a devout and faithful Catholic her whole life. Kathleen was recruited as a model, given her poise and beauty - only a petite stature limited her career. After graduation from high school, her ability to put people at ease, attention to detail and administrative skill led to a post with Automatic Electric. Kathleen loved the music of the 60s and 70s and enjoyed soft rock throughout her life. She married her office sweetheart, Bill, and moved to Des Plaines. Kathleen was an intelligent and exceptional homemaker, proud of her domestic skills. She and Bill raised two children, Michele and Bill, Jr. They were blessed to be so loved, and so cared for. Ahead of her time, she had a great spirit and adventurous nature. Her imagination and love had small outings become large adventures: Disco Duck and Locomotion 45s or Christmas Blue Light Specials or watching the liberty train. She was a lifelong fan of a good mystery book or show. She was a great Italian chef but also loved experimenting with all sorts of genres. And she was great company. Her family was everything to her. We will miss her warmth and especially the silly times laughing until tears rolled down our faces. We will especially miss her beautiful smile. Kathleen is survived by her spouse William Harold Radcliffe, daughter Michele Radcliffe and grandchild Chloe (Corey) Baker, and by her son William Harold Radcliffe Jr. On December 13th 2022, Kathleen will be honored during Mass at St Alphonsus Liguori and laid to rest at the All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3pm to 8pm at the Matz Funeral Home on December 12th. The family would like to recognize and thank the Prospect Heights police department, and in particular Officer Savas, Officer Cierniak, and Sgt. Duron for their support and help. These officers exhibited extraordinary compassion and consolation and we honor their duty.
