John C. Brausam

John Conrad Brausam, born June 30, 1938, was called to heaven on April 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Son of the late Conrad and Erna (Weichert) Brausam. He was the cherished brother to Alfred (Jane) and uncle to Julie and Michael. John was married to his beloved wife Marjorie (Berk) for 50 years, a testament to their undying love for each other. John was the proud father of Janine (Michael Nicolas), Jeff Roe, and Karen Brausam. Grandfather of Connor Nicolas, Ashley Nicolas, Shana Connelly, Rebecca Zepeda, great grandchild Derrick Connelly and his beloved granddog Skyler. John served honorably as a firefighter in the United States Air Force, after which he spent his career as a mold maker in the tool and die industry. In addition to being a master craftsman, capable of building and fixing nearly anything with his hands, John enjoyed making custom frames for his family. John loved to laugh and play games, his favorites being pool, shuffleboard, darts, cards and nearly every board game known to man. He was a champion of the basement Olympics and always the last man to leave a party or family gathering. John loved to travel, spending countless hours exploring the United States by car with Marge, making frequent stops to see every facet of this great country. John also loved to travel internationally, never missing an opportunity to visit Mexico. John was a fiercely loyal, patient, and caring husband and grandfather, always putting his family’s health, needs and best interests above his own. John was generous and kind, always the first to offer help with any project big or small. Most of all, John loved spending time with his friends and family, the sources of his greatest joy. We will miss his smile, his laugh, his warmth, and his deep unwavering love. May John forever soar on the wings of angels. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 27th at Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 East Rand Road, Mount Prospect, IL 60056. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chapel Service will be at 12:15pm. Immediately following the memorial service, Marjorie will be sitting Shiva out of respect for her Jewish faith at the family’s home in Des Plaines Monday, April 28th and Tuesday, April 29th from 10:00 am to 3:00 PM.
