Gloria Wisniewski

Gloria Wisniewski age 81 of Mount Prospect, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She is the beloved wife of the late Paul Wisniewski. Gloria and Paul were married at St. Monica Church on June 16, 1964 and spent 55 wonderful years together. Gloria graduated from Taft High School in 1959. Gloria is a founding member of St. Thomas Becket Parish. Many people say that they have the best mom in the world. Gloria was certainly that, but so much more. She was the mom who happily opened her home to family and friends for birthday parties, holidays, dinner parties, or simple visits. She was the consummate hostess and had entertainment down to a science. Gloria was "Auntie Gloria" who happily opened her arms to many cousins and family friends to provide early child care in a loving and safe environment. Gloria was a super loving “Nani” to her granddaughter Claudia. She was firm when she needed to be, a very patient listener, always friendly, affectionate, and tried hard never to leave someone out. She kept a tight budget, but always managed to make birthdays and holidays amazing. Gloria especially loved Christmas with her multiple trees, huge villages, nativities, and 15 different kinds of cookies. It was always the best time of the year. She was a happy travel companion and loved Italy, Alaska, cruising, weekend getaways, and of course the lake cottage in Tomahawk, WI. Gloria loved playing Yahtzee, Uno, Scrabble and Penny Poker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in the public library’s Homebound Senior Reading Program. She was all these things and yet, she still found time to help grade papers, set up classrooms, and wash/mend the filthy, ripped coat of a needy student in her daughter’s class. Finally, Gloria had a sweet tooth and Fannie May Candies were her favorite. It was the perfect match, the best chocolates for the best sister, sister-in-law, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother that anyone could ever have. Gloria is the loving mom of Steve Wisniewski, Michelle (fiancé Bill Nevler and daughter Kate) Wisniewski, and Mark Wisniewski. Cherished grandmother of Claudia. Dear sister of brother Larry Coco, sisters Carol Lilla and Marian DeGroot. Dear sister-in-law to Mary Coco, Geri Fugelberg, Mary Ann Barber, and the late Stanley Wisniewski, Rita and Tony Tyma. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Catherine Coco, brother Michael Coco, daughter-in-law Shelley Wisniewski and brother-in-laws Dan DeGroot and Lynn Lilla. Celebration of life for Gloria will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapels; 410 E Rand Rd, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St Thomas Becket Parish; 1321 N Burning Bush Ln, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056.
